We have a group of very talentet “PLOT”ters here on VC
Many of their plots are just too good to be lost. So this page will harbour some of those treasures. For the moment, i used the latest ones and tried to give the links where you can find the rest.
GeoLurkings latest plot shows the quakes in the Tongario area NZ
Quote: “This is a plot I did of 3 years of quakes (2009 to 2012) for the Tongariro, Ngauruhoe and Ruapehu area. On the second rotation I opened the depth up to 250 km so you can see the descending slab that feeds the volcanic systems as it melts.”
dfmorvan i concentrating his plotting skills on El hierro for the moment. He has his own page on http://eruptionelhierro.blogspot.fr/2012/07/3d-video-for-november-2011.html.
Here is one of his plot
On youtube he has his ” Chaîne de dfmorvan ” where you can check out his other videos.
And here are the earthquakes in August on El Hierro http://eruptionelhierro.blogspot.fr/2012/08/earthquake-density-map-for-august-2012.html
Here is a video done by Chyphria showing the recent earthquake location in regards in the previous swarms.
More plots by Chyphria on Youtube can be found here.
And here is the reworked plot.
“Reworked the 3D plot a bit. Quakes plotted until 13:45 today and layers added indicating the top of the Jurassic sediment and the oceanic crust (according to PEVOLCA). 26 weak earthquakes so far today (now), almost all in the same area within the oceanic crust, only one above the Jurassic sediment.
I wonder if todays swarm is a continuation of the recent one or arrival of new magma, because there has been that 32 km deep earthquake recently (29/07/12) resembling location and chain of events in 2011. Should show on the GPS though.”
